Tutors
Cancer is rarely over when the treatments stop. Survivors of childhood cancer often face complex, long-term side effects that can impact their ability to learn and perform academically.
We are looking for volunteer tutors to give children disadvantaged by cancer a step up! If you are patient, skilled and have a passion for helping kids learn, we want to hear from you.
Tutors must
- Be 18 years or older
- Have previous experience teaching or tutoring youth or general experience working with youth (e.g., camps, programs, lessons) combined with thorough knowledge of a key subject area (e.g., math, science, English, social studies).
- Be able to commit two hours (online or in-person) each week for a full year (with an understanding that vacations/exams will detract from some weeks).

If you have any questions, please reach out to our education program coordinator Rachel McInnes or complete the application form.
Events
Every year, we host a variety of events that raise vital funds for the foundation. Volunteer for one or more of Kids Cancer Care’s signature events including the Kids Cancer Care Ride of Courage, Dad and Daughter Gala, Barley & Smoke, or Rock Your Locks.
We are fortunate to have amazing groups and individuals in the community who host fundraisers for Kids Cancer Care such as golf tournaments, stampede parties, festivals, and more. We collaborate with our community partners by providing volunteers for these events.
Kids and families programs
Are you a people person? Do you enjoy working with kids and/or adults? Our recreational and therapeutic outreach programs, offered all year long, are designed to help kids and their parents escape the demands of cancer while building friendships and resources for the long journey ahead.
Behind the scenes
Event set-up, summer camp prep, and general office duties fall into a behind-the-scenes volunteer role. You can us by making sure we are well-prepared and ready to go with every event and program we offer!
PEER Exercise
PEER is a therapeutic exercise program designed for kids on or off cancer treatment and their siblings. Gain valuable experience working directly with children affected by cancer. Ideal volunteers are students or graduates of kinesiology, physical education, adapted physical literacy, nursing, medicine, or individuals with experience in the fitness/wellness industries.
