You’re making an impact

At Kids Cancer Care, our vision at Kids Cancer Care is a cure for every child, care for every family. Because more than 75% of childhood cancer survivors live with at least one chronic health problem related to their cancer treatments, our programs are designed to help address these permanent conditions. Our comprehensive programs range from funding laboratory and psychosocial research to therapeutic exercise to tutoring to recreational and leadership programs that help build friendships, skills, character and resilience.

Programs and services for the whole family

We help children and families through a range of educational, therapeutic and recreational programs and services

Camp and Outreach

Our year-round Camp and Outreach programs are designed to help kids deal with the physical, social and psychological effects of childhood cancer. Patients, survivors, and siblings are all welcome!

Education Support

Our Education Support and Scholarship programs help children with cancer-related learning issues develop confidence at school while gaining an understanding of their own learning needs and how to advocate for themselves. When they’re ready, we offer post-secondary scholarships to an educational institute of their choice.

Hospital Support

Our Hospital Support program helps ensure children with cancer can access the best care right here in Alberta, which means fewer interruptions for the family and being close to their support network when they need it most.

Research reveals camp has a 4:1 social return on investment

In an independent study called Social Return on Investment: A New Approach to Understanding and Advocating for Value in Healthcare, University of Calgary researcher Dr. Catherine Laing found that our SunMaker camp program offers a 4-to-1 return on investment. Employing a principles-based method, developed and standardized by Social Value UK, Laing measured value or ROI beyond simply monetary outcomes. With this methodology, she measured the impact of change in social or emotional terms, i.e., quality of life, self-confidence, and found our camp program provides high psychosocial value. The study findings demonstrate that for every dollar invested in our camp programs, participants and the community at large receive a 4-dollar return in social benefit. Read the full study.
